Windows 7 Activation Key

 Posted admin

I am on a genuine version of Windows 7. Today I received a very official looking pop-up message that my copy of Windows 7 wasn't genuine and I needed to supply the product activation key. I saw a screenshot on line that confirmed this was a hoax. I have tried a Restore but it hasn't fixed the problem. I have tried scans with Windows Defender and a commercial product and neither detected an issue. Desktop screen background has turned black with a message in bottom RHS that copy of Windows is not genuine, Build 7601. Computer status doesn't reveal the genuine nature of the Windows 7 I would rather not reinstall Windows 7 as I am concerned that I will have to reinstall various passwords for Wifi and components etc.

I have seen some solutions online but don't know if they are from genuine sources. One suggests supplying various codes into the hoax request.

Thanks in advance It may be a genuine message, too. You could have told us what type of license you have!!! @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ Is it a Retail, OEM System Builders or OEM preinstalled (Dell, HP, etc.) license and is it still activated? @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ The Product Key consists of 25 digits, divided into 5 groups of 5 digits and the layout looks like this: xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx The 24 used are: 2346789BCDFGHJKMPQRTVWXY The 12 unused are: 015AEILNOSUZ @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ If installed and activated and a Retail or OEM system Builders license and you have lost the product key that came with the purchase use these free programs: @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ If OEM preinstalled (Dell, HP, etc.) license: The COA sticker, which has the Product Key on it, is either on the underside of the Laptop or in the Battery Compartment. With a Desktop it is either on the side, rear or top of the Computer Case.

I asked where to find the screen to enter the product key info, ie I had it. Handy links though, and gnarly changing graphics I ended up calling Microsoft as getting late in my part of the world.
